What to watch this weekend

This is a new feature at the Pigskin Podcast: Each week, we'll post on Friday afternoon what we're looking forward to each weekend. Enjoy!

(No lines on games featuring Football Bowl Subdivision -- or 1-AA -- schools)

SATURDAY

Bowling Green (+13) at Pitt, noon: Bowling Green just suspended three players for improper use of a credit card, and Pitt boasts a hell of a running back, LeSean McCoy. The Falcons have high hopes for this season, but this might be a bloodbath.

Hawaii (+35) at Florida, 12:30 p.m.: I'm curious to see what Hawaii looks like without Colt Brennan AND June Jones and whether Florida can score 90.

Georgia Southern at Georgia, 12:30 p.m.: How good is Georgia? Georgia Southern is a quality Football Bowl Subdivision team, and should provide some resistance for the Bulldogs.

Appalachian State at LSU, 5 p.m.: They can't do it again. Right? Right. (Seriously: right?)

Alabama (+4.5) at Clemson (in Atlanta), 8 p.m.: A nice test for the Tigers to start their Season of Expectations, which will make it all the funnier if they drop the ball, so to speak, here.

Illinois (+9) at Missouri (in St. Louis), 8:30 p.m.: Maybe the best game of the week, I'm eager to see if Illinois can keep the mojo going and hang with this big boy.

Michigan State (+5) at California, 8 p.m.: Our own Erik Bell thinks the Spartans are going to win the national title, so this is obviously Step One.

MONDAY

Tennessee (-7.5) at UCLA: Why not? It's Monday, and it's a fairly marquee matchup. For football junkies, games every day is a fantastic development.
